2019 primary candidates for Monroe County
The following candidates have filed petitions to appear on the primary ballot in Monroe County.
For county commissioner, the Democratic candidates are incumbent John Christy, Stroud Township; Sharon Laverdure Smithfield Township; Robert Lovenheim, Smithfield Township; Andre Reames, Stroud Township; James Smith, Stroudsburg Borough; and Joshua Walker, Smithfield Township. Republican candidates are incumbents Charles A. Garris and John R. Moyer, both of Smithfield Township.
Candidates for controller are Democrats Christine Craig, Middle Smithfield Township, and Luna Mishoe, Stroud Township, and incumbent Republican Marlo A. Merhige, Paradise Township.
Register of Wills Recorder of Deeds candidates are: Democrat Anita Peterson, East Stroudsburg Borough, and incumbent Republican Josephine Ferro, Middle Smithfield Township.
Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts candidates are Democrats Beth Rodriguez, Middle Smithfield Township, and Stacy Stewart-Keeler, Mount Pocono Borough, and incumbent Republican George Warden, Hamilton Township.
Sheriff candidates are Democrat Joseph Rogan, Coolbaugh Township, and Republicans Efrain Madera, Jackson Township, and Ken Morris, Pocono Township.
Republican incumbent District Attorney David Christine, Stroudsburg Borough, is the only candidate listed for that spot.
For Pleasant Valley school director seats, all but one candidate have cross-filed.
Norman A. Burger, Chestnuthill Township; Ed Coyle, Ross Township; Teresa Greggo, Chestnuthill Township; incumbent board President Susan A. Kresge, Chestnuthill Township; Todd Kresge, Polk Township; Deb Mayer, Chestnuthill Township; incumbent Robert E. Serfass, Polk Township; James Spinola, Chestnuthill Township; and incumbent Delbert Zacharias, Polk Township, will appear on both Democratic and Republican ballots. Robert Butler, Polk Township, appears only on the Republican ballot.
In township supervisor races, Republican Eric Snyder is running in Chestnuthill, Democrat Donna Mikol is running in Eldred and incumbent Republican Carl Heckman is running in Polk.
Democrat James K. Zahoroiko and incumbent Republican Howard Beers Jr. are on the ballot for supervisor in Ross Township.
For auditor, Republican Eric E. Hoffman is on the ballot in Chestnuthill. Democrat Linda Zak is listed in Ross Township. No candidates are listed in Eldred or Polk townships.
Four Republicans, Fernando L. Albano Assis, Vincent Cefarello, Bradley D. Mann and Christopher Weite, are on the ballot for constable in Chestnuthill Township. No constable candidates are on the ballot in Polk or Ross.
