2019 primary election: McCall seeks nomination for Carbon County controller

Thomas J. “TJ” McCall III, Summit Hill, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the office of Carbon County Controller in the primary election.

The lifelong resident of Summit Hill is a son of Mary (Guardiani) McCall of Summit Hill and the late Rep. of the 122nd Legislative District Thomas McCall, and is the brother of former Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Keith McCall and Kelly Sherkness.

He is employed as the information technology administrator for the Brisbane Industrial Drive Company and network coordinator for the Simon Kramer Institute of Medical Oncology. He is responsible for the integration and deployment of multiple system platforms within specific industry guidelines and works closely with management and staff to coordinate and synchronize automated mission objectives.

His responsibilities include managing contractor services which deploy circuit connectivity; reviewing hardware and software requirements for client services relating to networking administration and integration; and strategic planning for system growth and expanding services as needed to include hosted voice and multimedia communications.

Previously, McCall was a marketing specialist with the Systems II Corporation, Pottsville, which facilitates custom design of medical and manufacturing systems. He received continuing education certification from Harvard University for clinical computing and maintains system processing understanding for AI and forecast analytics software.

McCall was a candidate for the priesthood with the Diocese of Scranton and attended the University of Scranton.

He holds professional licenses from the Pennsylvania Department of State as a Real Estate salesperson and the Department of Transportation-Federal Aviation Administration as a private pilot.

He is a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus; a fraternal member of the Carbon County AOH; financial secretary of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Lodge No. 43; and a member of Carbon Lodge No. 242, F. & A.M.

McCall serves as chairman of the McCall Memorial Foundation, which awards scholarship funding to the five school districts in Carbon County, as well as Marian High School.

He is a former chairman of the Carbon County Industrial Development Authority and formerly served on the Carbon County Board of Assessment Appeals.
