2019 Primary election: McGuire announces candidacy for Carbon County clerk of courts
Kathy McGuire, of Jim Thorpe, has announced her candidacy for the Office of Carbon County Clerk of Courts.
She is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination in the May primary election.
McGuire has been employed by Carbon County for 27 years, 14 of those as second deputy in the Clerk of Courts Office and three months as first deputy.
Currently she is an assistant chief assessor in the Assessment Office and coordinator of the lean & Green Program (Act 319) and holds a license as a Certified Pennsylvania Evaluator.
Before working for Carbon County she was head teller for the Jim Thorpe Railroad Station branch office of the Mauch Chunk Trust Co. for eight years. She was a former commissioner for Jim Thorpe Memorial Park Commission.
McGuire is a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she serves on the church decorating team.
The daughter of Irene (Besek) Nonnemacher and the late Kermit M. Nonnemacher, she is a lifelong resident of Jim Thorpe, having graduated from Jim Thorpe Area High School in 1982.
She completed a certificate training course at the Carbon County Area Vocational/Technical School in computer word processing/programming.
The candidate is married to Peter J. McGuire, who served two terms on the Jim Thorpe Area School District Board and Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Board. They have a son, Peter Jr. of Jim Thorpe.
McGuire feels that her 14 years of experience in the Clerk of Courts Office as second deputy and three months tenure as first deputy qualifies her for the position of Clerk of Courts and looks forward to being able to serve the people of Carbon County.
