2019 primary election: Palmerton school board race sees four candidates win dual nominations
Four people won both Democratic and Republican nominations — and two others won one nomination each — and will face each other in November in balloting on Tuesday in the primary election of 2019 for positions on the Palmerton Area School District Board of Education.
There were nominations available for five four-year terms on the board.
The four people who won the nominations of both parties are Audrey L. Larvey, Brandon Mazepa, Sherry A. Haas and Doris D. Zellers.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey D. Henry won a Democratic nomination and Tammy L. Recker won a Republican nomination, which in essence means they will face each other in the general election.
The Democratic order of finish was: Larvey, 488; Mazepa, 412; Haas, 400; Zellers, 360; and Henry, 335. Losing out was Josann Harry, who had 320 votes.
The Republican order of finish was: Haas, 507; Larvey, 501; Mazepa, 491; Zellers, 448; and Recker, 434. Losing out were Henry, 419, and Charles C. Gildner, 395.
