Byron Dale Schnell, 67, announces his candidacy for the Lehighton Area School Board. He anticipates the next four years going forward will be a character builder.

A lifelong resident of the district and 1971 Lehighton Area High School graduate, he is the proud son of the late Dale K. Schnell and Anna M. Dotter Schnell, most recently employed by Lehighton Area School District for 14 and a half years and is now retired. He says the experience working for the district was humbling and educational, and working with the teachers and alongside the students was a rewarding part of the job.

He was previously employed by Spillane’s Variety & Crafts as a Warehouse Stock Manager for 21 years. The experiences working for a family-owned business helped him develop a sense of pride, loyalty and work ethic and to be creative and innovative. The knowledge collected from these positive building blocks will be assets to his campaign.

Efforts in supporting the community have become a retirement goal. Schnell is presently an active member of the Lehighton Area Pool Pals, Lehighton Downtown Initiative and the recently community adapted Main Street Steering Committee. Past credits are one year with the Jim Thorpe YMCA board of directors; nine years with the Franklin Township Athletic Association developing and managing the Coachpitch Division, which included boys baseball and girls softball; and one year of development and chairing the Lehighton Area Crime Watch community organization.

With these credits as building blocks, Schnell said his regard and loyalty for community and school district has become a first priority.

Effectively using constituents as conduits to give a voice toward educating our students, empowering our teachers, facilitating district law and policies and advocating for district solvency.

Schnell said he pledges his commitment to uphold his retirement goal to move this district forward into a better educational tool for our community.

“Ever hear someone say, ‘No use complaining, not like anyone will listen?’

“I will listen!”

Greatest tag line for a politician ever!

“Ever hear someone say, ‘No use complaining, not like anyone will listen?’ “I will listen!”

With the Lehighton School District, the past oppressors kept the people quiet with intimidation tactics and signaling police to pull people from the meetings. Well, they were all exposed as evildoers and kicked to the curb by the voters.

Now, those days are over. Once we rid the government of these last few old guard incumbents, we can restore a government of, by and for the people.

Lehighton was blessed to have their government watch by citizens, a citizen-based CSpan with teeth exposing the evildoers. With a tag line about listening, I trust this man will be eager to serve the people as an elected public servant.

Sincerely,

Citizen David F. Bradley, Sr.
