State Rep. Rosemary M. Brown has announced she will run for re-election to the 189th District of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Brown has become a well-known advocate for the area and is recognized for working for local residents in a kind, strong, nonpartisan manner.

“Throughout my tenure, I have never looked at issues through a partisan lens. Instead, I focus on how an issue impacts our community and listen closely to the views and concerns of local residents,” Brown said.

Brown continues to be a fierce advocate for property tax reform and how Pennsylvania funds local schools — supporting efforts to provide funding on a per pupil basis as well as to eliminate school property taxes and replace them with a fairer system based on income and sales taxes. She has supported state budgets that provide record funding for basic education and deliver new funds under a bipartisan funding formula she helped create that provides more funding for Monroe and Pike County schools.

She has helped lead the effort to address the opioid epidemic by passing bipartisan laws that take a comprehensive approach to the issue, including tougher penalties for dealers, increased treatment opportunities for those afflicted with addiction, and limitations on opioid prescriptions.

Brown has been an advocate for making sure Pennsylvania’s young adults have the financial tools to avoid debt and other fiscal issues they could face later in life. That’s how, working with local parents, educators and finance professionals, Brown crafted legislation — passed into law in late 2019 — allowing financial literacy coursework to count as a graduation requirement for high school students.

She has secured millions of our tax dollars back from Harrisburg for important economic development, transportation and infrastructure projects, parks and recreation needs, and more.

Brown spends countless hours meeting with constituents and attending events with local residents, civic groups, veterans’ groups, charities, businesses and more.

Rosemary, 49, grew up in the Poconos and married her high-school sweetheart, Joe; together, they have three children — Kennedy, Carter and Reagan — and live in East Stroudsburg. First elected in 2010, Brown’s service in the Legislature began in 2011.

This is clearly a paid advertisement, why is there nothing indicating that?
I know but this is a clearly verbatim from her campaign and not reporting on her campaign. Good journalism demands that the source, and if it’s a paid ad, is reported.
