2020 reorganization: Hoffman appointed new chairman in Eldred Township

The Eldred Township supervisors met Monday night for reorganization and their regular meeting for January.

Gary Hoffman was appointed as the chairman for 2020. He replaces Mary Anne Clausen, who retired in December after six years of service. JoAnn Bush will serve as vice chairwoman. And Donna Mikol was elected in November to complete the three-member Board of Supervisors.

The supervisors also reappointed the following employees: E. Ann Velopolcek, secretary/administrative assistant; James Phillips, treasurer; and Frank Fehlinger, public works supervisor.

Michael Gaul was reappointed as the township solicitor at $160 per hour; Tom Heimbach, special counsel, $255 per hour; Chad Martinez, Zoning Hearing Board solicitor, $150; and Brien Kocher, township engineer, $117 per hour.

Jacob Schray was appointed as the sewage enforcement officer at $74.50 hour. Under him are Christopher Taylor, Scott Brown and Gregory Gray.

Shawn McGlynn will serve as the zoning and codes officer at $65 per hour. He will also serve as the building code official, the UCC inspector and the flood plain manager.

The emergency management coordinators are Kevin Silliman and Frank Fehlinger. The fire chief for the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company is Brian Stankovich, and the fire company’s president is Ray Miller. West End Ambulance Association was appointed as the primary emergency ambulance covering Eldred Township.

Michael Kolba and Megan Yarashas were appointed to four-year terms on the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission meets on the third Thursday of every month.

Jack Yarashas will serve a three-year term on the Zoning Hearing Board, and Michael Froelich was appointed auditor for a four-year term.

For 2020, the supervisors will meet every third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., except for January.
