$250K grant for Carbon fire training center

State Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon) and State Representative Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced today that the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center has received $250,000 in state grant funding.

The funds will be used to complete site preparation and construction associated with the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center in the borough of Nesquehoning. This includes construction of the fireman’s training building, observation tower, and law enforcement training center.

“The Carbon County Commissioners have worked tirelessly to secure funding for the construction of the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center. It is imperative that our first responders have a top-notch facility as they work to protect the residents of Carbon County, and the funding awarded today will certainly assist with those efforts,” said Yudichak.

“Improving public safety is a top priority of mine, and I am glad to see that funds have been secured for the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center. Giving our first responders the resources they need for training will benefit every single community in Carbon County and make Carbon County a safer place to live,” said Heffley.

The grants are administered through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program administered by Governor Tom Wolf’s Office of the Budget.
