45th annual Walnutport carnival kicks off Tuesday

Published July 08. 2019 01:40PM

Fun-filled activities, tasty food and action galore.

Those are among the chief reasons to come out and support the 2019 Walnutport Playground Association Carnival.

The 45th annual event will be held from 6-11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the playground on Lincoln Avenue.

Robert Treskot, who co-chairs the event with his daughter, Gale Husack, said the event supports the playground association’s boys and girls softball and baseball programs.

“We do this for the kids,” Treskot said. “We’re so appreciative of all the people who attend our carnival, support our carnival and help work at the carnival.”

Treskot stressed the significant role volunteers play in making the event the success that it is.

“Volunteers are very important; without volunteers, who can’t do anything,” he said. “We wouldn’t be able to run the carnival without those people.”

There will also be a vast range of food available for purchase.

As always, entertainment is always a top attraction, and this year’s lineup is no exception, as Droppin’ Trou will perform on Tuesday; followed by The Rehrig Brothers on Wednesday; The Large Flowerheads on Thursday; Country Rhythm Band on Friday; and Hydraulic Lime Band on Saturday.

For the kids, rides are available each night, with a ride special Wednesday and Saturday.

The ever popular fireworks show will be presented at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Treskot said the carnival offers a little bit of something for everyone.

“We want the people to support the carnival,” he said. “It should be a real good carnival.”
