Albrightsville man given prison term for assault
An Albrightsville man was sentenced to a county prison term on Monday afternoon after pleading to an assault charge.
Reinaldo Magobet, 43, pleaded to one count of simple assault for an incident on Jan. 22.
Jim Thorpe police responded to an assault report involving a female victim. The female reported that Magobet and she and her juvenile son were involved in a dispute which turned physical.
During the altercation, a cellphone was broken and the woman said the defendant assaulted her.
Police noted in their report visible signs of an assault.
Magobet told Judge Steven R. Serfass he was sorry for what happened.
He said, “I apologize to all my friends, family and neighbors.”
Serfass sentenced him to serve nine to one day less 24 months in prison with credit for six days already served. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, attend and successfully complete an anger management course, have no contact with the victim, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Friday and was granted immediate work release privileges.
