Amount of police coverage in Franklin Twp. questioned
Is there enough police coverage in Franklin Township?
Resident Larry Williams asked the township’s board of supervisors on Tuesday if the police force is operating with fewer officers than usual.
Supervisor Robin Cressley said that at present, the police department has three full-time officers, but is thin on part-timers.
Cressley said the township plans to add a fourth full-time officer to its police force.
After the meeting, township secretary Brenda Neeb said the township has the funds to afford a fourth full-time officer.
In November, supervisors appointed Jason Doll as chief of police in November.
That came after supervisors at a special meeting in October agreed to dismiss a police officer — an unnamed employee — for willful misconduct.
Former Supervisor Rod Green said at that meeting the township would add another full-time officer likely sometime this year.
