Last month while most of us were shivering and shoveling, Lehighton-based hard rock band Another Day Dawns was on the West Coast in warm, sunny Los Angeles filming its first official music video.

“Psycho” was released Tuesday, and in less than 24 hours, had already tallied more than 3,000 views on social media.

Livi Dillon, bassist for Another Day Dawns, said the band chose the single from their upcoming CD because it was sure to get noticed.

“We all just decided it was our favorite,” said Dillon. “It’s catchy and upbeat, and we decided it would be a good single to push.”

In addition to Dillon, the band includes vocalist Dakota Sean, guitarist Tyler Ritter and drummer Nick McGeehan.

“We’ve been thinking about a music video for awhile, but we wanted to do it right,” said Dillon. “We signed with John Phillips as our manager a few months ago. He connected us with Brian Cox (director/cinematographer) and set everything up for us to film it.”

Cox came up with the full idea for the video after the band sent him an early demo of “Psycho.” Once he and Phillips were firm on what they wanted for the video, they spoke with the band, arrangements were made and the band flew to LA.

“We were only there for three or four days,” said Dillon. “It was a quick trip out. John and Brian had spoken to us about what they wanted for the video, so we knew what we were going into for the filming.”

All of the scenes with the band were filmed at WarehouseLA in Los Angeles which features numerous sets available to the industry. Scenes with the entire band were shot in a large industrial-looking hallway, while two or three other sets were used for scenes with Sean and three different models/actresses portraying the eponymous “psychos,” including one who takes a bit of a bloodbath.

“We were going for a little bit of a shock value to catch people’s attention,” Dillon said of the high-energy, hard-hitting video.

Filming took about nine hours, said Dillon, and with the location they used tightly booked, they had to work with the time slot they had with no room for error.

“It was so surreal for us. We’ve never shot a music video before. For us to be doing our first video shoot at such a professional level, it was crazy,” said Dillon. “We love LA, so any excuse to get out there is always nice, and being able to shoot such a cool video at the same time was amazing.”

Just over a year ago Another Day Dawns also landed in the City of Angels after winning the local and regional Next2Rock Contest where they competed against four other bands at the famed Viper Room. While they didn’t take the number one spot, the band garnered the attention of the Affliction Clothing Company, which has begun outfitting them. They also impressed hitmaker Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith), who invited them to his homes in Nashville and New York where they have already collaborated on four songs together.

None of those songs are on the upcoming CD however, but will be released hopefully in the not too distant future.

“Those songs will be recorded perhaps on the next CD,” said Dillon. “Things are in the works for another CD. We’ve been writing with Desmond a lot. Those first songs are written and ready to go. We just haven’t recorded them yet.”

That doesn’t mean you won’t get to hear them.

Another Day Dawns will be hosting a CD Release Party for “A Different Life” on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at One Centre Square, 1 Centre Square in Easton.

“We’ll be playing them on Saturday at the release show and at upcoming shows,” said Dillon.

Dillon said the band plans to continue working with Child, but he’s currently performing. (He was showcased last Saturday at Lincoln Center in New York.)

“Once he’s finished, he’ll be turning his attention back toward us,” she said.

In the meantime, the band is hoping with the new video and EP, which was recorded and produced by King Studios in Allentown, they can get some traction on nailing down a recording contract. It’s something their manager is working on.

“Right now, he’s doing all of that for us. He’s handling all of the behind-the-scenes business aspects for us,” said Dillon. “John has a lot of good contacts in the industry, and he’s been definitely using them.”

“A Different Life” will be available at the release party as well as Gallery of Sound in Wilkes-Barre. You can also order it on the band’s website, anotherdaydawns.com, or download it from all major streaming platforms.

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s release party (all ages welcome) and can be purchased online through the website, by messaging the band or purchasing them at the door.
