Moravian College junior thrower Jon Anthony has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Anthony, a graduate of Palmerton, placed sixth in the weight throw at the Kutztown University Last Chance Qualifier last Friday evening with a toss of 14.90 meters (48-10.75), a mark that was 4-10.25 further that Anthony’s previous career-best in the event.

“Jonathan has been showing some really promising signs in practice with Coach Jon D’Ottavio the past few weeks so it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he demonstrated what he was capable of in a meet,” stated head coach Jesse Baumann. “He really hit his first throw and then followed it up with a great series which goes to show he can replicate that mark at any time. It’s great to see from Jon, he puts in the work and as long as he trusts his training and what he is fully capable of he can continue to excel and put up even bigger marks than this.”

Moravian is set to compete in the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Susquehanna University as the Greyhounds look to win their ninth straight and 10th overall Landmark title.
