BARC to donate toward Bowmanstown improvements
Rodney Reeser of Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected told the Bowmanstown borough council on Tuesday that BARC has received some funding from the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor for some activities that they have held in the area.
BARC is seeking permission to proceed with several projects.
“We’d like paint the wall behind the playground and basketball court as well as a small section of wall at the Mill Street playground with chalkboard paint. The kids can then draw on the paint with chalk as they see fit,” he said.
BARC also wants to donate two concrete benches to the playground and a five wave bike rack at borough hall and a seven wave rack at the Post Office. They also want to secure permission to begin planning a multiuse park to be located along Railroad Street near the Post Office.
Ravert asked that BARC put together a list of the donations so that council can begin considering them.
Councilwoman Kara Scott said that BARC has given her some plan drawings and information about the proposed bike racks and benches.
“BARC has the money; this won’t cost the borough anything,” she said, adding that they can’t proceed any further unless council votes to accept the donation.
Council President William Ravert asked that BARC provide a written description of the proposals so that the council can study the requests before granting permission.
Scott said the list of donations is based on wishes expressed by the community.
Ravert said council will need to discuss the donation before it can vote to accept, and he needs a list of what to bring to council.
Scott said BARC will be forthcoming with the detailed list.
