Bethlehem man given prison term for DUI

A Bethlehem was sentenced to a prison term on Monday in Carbon County court on a driving under the influence charge.

Paul Jay Rentzheimer, 50, was sentenced to serve one to five years in prison on the charge. He was arrested on June 20, 2015, by Mahoning Township police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also previously pleaded to a retail theft count for an incident at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. He was sentenced to serve one to 12 months in jail, concurrent with the DUI charge.

Rentzheimer recently finished a state prison sentence on other charges.

He was also ordered to render 100 hours of community service when paroled, enter and complete a long-term inpatient drug and alcohol program, pay a fine of $2,500, license suspended for 18 months and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.

He began the jail term immediately and was granted work release privileges.
