Blue Mountain Resort’s 2020 Winter Fest will be held next Saturday and Sunday.

The 11th annual event, sponsored by REI & Valley Centeral, will take place at the Summit Lodge toward the top of Pennsylvania’s highest vertical on School Hill from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10-2 Sunday.

The free event includes live ice carving, real sled dogs, snow making tours from Blue’s Mountain Ops Team, Snowga (yoga on snow), vendors, a kid’s area and more.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, a firework display will be set off by Skyshooter Displays, ZY Pyrotechnics with a view that will be available from both the Summit and Valley lodge.

Blue Mountain’s 40 trails, 16 lifts and up to 34 tubing lanes are available for regular price during the event from 8-10 p.m. Saturday and 8-9 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to the event, the USA Olympic Luge team will host the 2020 Luge Challenge from 11-5 p.m. Saturday and 10-2 Sunday (weather dependent).

Guests can experience the rush of the Winter Games by riding a luge on the only natural, East Coast USA Luge track that is open to the public, as USA Luge Coaches will be on-site to evaluate each luge run and will be scouting for potential athletes.

In 2017, Brianna Gosnell was recruited for the USA Luge Team from the track at Blue Mountain Resort.
