Blue Mountain offers free phys ed classes
Blue Mountain Resort is now offering free physical education outreach programs to local schools.
These new programs promote exercise, a love for the outdoors, and a healthy lifestyle, and have been developed to align with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Health, Safety & Physical Education.
Blue Mountain recognizes that not every student is able to experience skiing and snowboarding on their own, so the resort is offering school-based programs for both third and eighth grade students.
The goal is to make winter sports accessible to young people by creating an opportunity for them to try it out, and it won’t cost them anything.
Youth, ages 8 to 14, are eager to try new activities and build on their existing skills and experiences, so targeting third and eighth grade fits nicely with other offerings and programs at Blue.
Blue Mountain Resort is teaming up with Lehighton Middle School’s eighth grade classes for the free program.
The resort’s ski and snowboard instructors will be at the school Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 for all the physical education classes each day to facilitate the program.
The first class will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 10:35 a.m.
