Brodheadsville Pocono Eye Associates plans to move
Pocono Eye Associates in Brodheadsville is planning to move from the current office space they lease in the Lehigh Valley Health Medical building to a lot off Route 209 just over a mile away.
“Practice is growing,” said Office Manager Debbie Giunta. “We’ve outgrown our existing space and we can’t expand in that location.”
A vacant building, which used to be a day care, currently stands on the property at 1650 Route 209, across from Pleasant Valley High School.
Pocono Eye Associates has not decided whether they will tear down the building and build a new one or use the existing building, Giunta said.
“That building has fallen in disrepair over the years,” builder Donald Hannig of Spread Eagle Realty said at the township supervisors meeting Tuesday night. “It’s the intent of this project to take down that building and put up a very attractive, professional medical office building (of) 4,000 square feet.”
At the meeting, the township granted this project conditional approval, subject to receipt of some documents.
Construction should start this fall for the spring of 2020, Hannig said.
But since the ground is not broken yet, Pocono Eye Associates does not have a definitive time frame for when the project will be completed and the move will occur, Giunta said. The process has been slowed by county roadwork plans.
“Everything is rather up in the air,” Giunta said.
Pocono Eye Associates currently owns three locations in Monroe County and has been in the area for more than 40 years. It provides all kinds of eye care, ranging from eye exams and an optical shop to specialized surgeries.
