Brown announces $90,900 awarded to Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board

Published January 16. 2019 12:03PM

Rep. Rosemary M. Brown, R-Monroe/Pike, announced that the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board was awarded a $90,900 Business Education Partnership Grant.

The purpose of this state grant is to help strengthen cooperation and coordination of business, education, industry and labor to align interaction with workforce needs and the interaction of secondary and postsecondary education and to implement appropriate career pathway plans and practices in the Poconos.

“It is always important for our local schools and businesses to maintain great relationships, as they greatly benefit from students who graduate and may be looking for a job or are interested in specific careers,” Brown said. “This funding is crucial to aid in keeping the business and education partnerships thriving in our area.”

Business-Education Partnership programs provide opportunities to connect local businesses with school districts to promote job opportunities and career pathways. These programs increase awareness of in-demand technical careers for students, parents, guardians, teachers and school faculty.
