BWC Lehighton to host second annual Christmas Candlelight Service
Back by popular demand, the Bethany Wesleyan Church in Lehighton will host its second annual Christmas Candlelight Service.
The service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lehighton Upper Park and Band Shell, and will consist of familiar Christmas songs and readings, according to Casey Spencer, campus pastor at BWC in Lehighton.
“It was such a success last year (over 300 people) that we decided to do a repeat,” Spencer said. “It really felt like a community event; it was wonderful, it was beautiful.”
This year, members of the Lehighton Area High School Choir, under the direction of Jessica Schafer, will contribute to the musical selections, Spencer said.
Spencer said he believes the new-look park will serve as the perfect backdrop for the event.
“With all the renovations, we’re just excited to be there. We’re just looking forward to a good response,” he said. “We had a wonderful experience last year, and we are very much looking forward to being in the newly renovated upper park with the band shell and the great landscaping they’ve done and the community Christmas trees that are surrounding the park and are excited to see the response from the community.”
In case of inclement weather, Spencer said the service will be held inside the Lehighton Area Middle School.
He said that at the conclusion of the service, the Bethany Evangelical Church in Lehighton will open its doors for cookies and refreshments.
