A young woman was injured Monday afternoon in a crash along Route 209 in Towamensing Township.

The victim appeared to be traveling north when she allegedly lost control of her car, entering the right berm and impacting with a utility pole. The vehicle caught fire.

Passersby pulled the woman from the burning car and laid her in a nearby field. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a local trauma center.

When firefighters from Franklin and Towamensing townships arrived on scene, they found the car fully involved in flames. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.

My husband was one of two men who pulled her from the vehicle. Poor girl is only 19 years old. He said that at first the others said to leave her in the vehicle, but he saw it start to smoke, and he pulled her out and got her away from it.
I told him he was a Hero, he wont hear of it. He says he just did what was right, but he admits moments after he got her out that car was fully engulfed
@DirtyDog-truly it was DIVINE INTERVENTION. He had stopped at the Dollar General. When he came out our Cadillac would'nt start. He was waiting for me to get there with my cousin so we could jump start the car. While waiting is when he saw the accident and ran to her. Oddly enough every time since, our car has started with no problems. It was just one of those amazing things that cannot be explained any other way-we are still reeling over it. Miracles do happen everyday I guess.
My husband also said it took Franklin township fire department 15 mins to get there. Lehighton EMT was alot faster
Good thing that your husband was nearby but give credit to Franklin Township Fire Co. This accident was in Towamensing Twp, about 5 miles west of the Towamensing Township Fire Co. Franklin Township Fire Co. is, as your husband said, about a 15 minute drive to the accident scene. Considering volunteers have to get to the fire company and then drive about 8 miles to get to this accident, 15 minutes is a pretty good response time.
You said "it took Franklin Township 15 minutes to get there and the Lehighton EMT's were alot faster", as though that's a slap in the face of the Franklin Twp Fire Co. I don't have any idea whether Towamensing showed up....just trying to justify why it probably took Franklin Township 15 minutes....and I said that was a pretty good response time considering the distance. Sounded like you didn't think so, unless I misinterpreted your comment.
Another fine example of examplerary performance in thermal imbalance suppression using the latest in tactical denim. Air packs and full turnout gear are for mortals.
