Published December 26. 2019 02:03PM

A driver struck a horse early Thursday morning in Ross Township, causing nondisabling damages.

The vehicle was southbound on Route 115 (Wilkes-Barre Turnpike) near Brick Church Road at 1:09 a.m. Thursday when it struck the horse.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said the horse escaped from a neighboring property and was struck by the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Police did not say whether the horse was injured but said the driver was not hurt.

Police said the vehicle sustained damages to the driver’s side mirror and was driven from the scene.

The owner of the horse arrived at the scene and returned it to its property without further incident, police said.
