The Carbon Career & Technical Institute’s Joint Operating Committee also made the following moves last week.

• An agreement extension was approved for Jeffry Nietz as PIMS trainer and coordinator with the Join Operating Committee through July 31, 2018.

• Jeffry Nietz was approved as a substitute part-time technology assistant on an as-needed basis, not to exceed three days a week, at the rate of $150 per day through the 2018-19 school year.

• Autumn Frey, Michele Dominic, Tammy Marshall, Hal C. Resh and Harold Resh were approved as adult education instructors on an as-needed basis, with salaries ranging from $21 to $25 per hour, effective April 20 through April 2019.

• The number of students that meet the 2018-19 admissions requirement for the Freshman Exploratory Program was set at 10 per sending district.

• National Technical Honor Society adviser Jeremy Pease and Health Medical instructor Michele Dominic were approved to chaperon 12 NTHS senior students on a field trip to Ricketts Glen State Park in Benton on May 16.

• English teacher Katherine Baumgardt was approved to chaperon 12 AP English students on a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 21. Expenses for the trip were included in the 2017-18 General Fund Travel Budget.

• Business administrator Jeffry P. Deutsch said the 2018-19 Proposed Operating Budget resolution had been approved by Jim Thorpe, Palmerton, Panther Valley and Weatherly school districts. Lehighton has yet to approve a resolution for the budget, which calls for receipts and expenditures amounting to $8,330.745.

• The 2018-19 Proposed Operating Budget for the CCTI Adult Education Program, calling for receipts and expenditures amounting to $127,310, was approved.

• The 2018-19 Proposed Operating Budget for the Carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program, calling for receipts and expenditures amounting to $240,000, was approved.

• The tuition rate for the Carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program was set at $8,000 per year for the 2018-19 fiscal year. The program is funded by tuition payments, with a daily rate of $40.

• June 11 and 12 were added to the school calendar as make up days for March 21 and 22.

• The class schedule for the Carbon Alternative High School Diploma Program were set: July 9-Sept. 24; Oct. 2-Dec. 13; Jan. 2-March 18; and April 1-June 14. Snow and emergency days will be made up at the end of each semester.

• Facilitator of special education Elizabeth Porter and special education teacher Scott Bartholomew were approved to attend Lehigh University’s 46th Special Education Law Conference on May 11 at Lehigh University’s Mountaintop Campus in Bethlehem, at a cost of $195 to cover registration.

• Adviser salaries were set for the following amounts for the 2018-19 school years: $2,300 each for DECA, HOSA and SkillsUSA advisers; $2,300 for the senior class adviser; $2,300 for the underclass adviser; $2,300 for the student council adviser; $2,300 for the Interact Rotary adviser; $2,300 for the SADD adviser; $1,600 for the Aevidum adviser; $1,600 for the student forum adviser; and $1,600 for each DECA, HOSA and SkillsUSA assistant adviser.

• The committee approved to entering an agreement with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit No. 21 for participation in the Technology in Education Legal Counsel Consortium for the 2018-19 school year. Sweet, Stevens, Katz and Williams offer the service, which provides legal support in technology matters within an educational setting. The Technology Counsel Consortium provides strategies, training and model policies to prevent tech-based problems that can lead to liability issues.
