Carbon Career & Technical Institute

Carbon Career & Technical Institute has approved ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Active Shooter Response training for CCTI’s staff for the 2018-19 school year.

The training will be conducted by school resource officer and certified ALICE training instructor Frank DeMatto.

The following was also approved:

• Academic teacher Michael Baumgardt and technical instructor Michele Dominic were approved as teacher mentors on an as-needed basis for the 2018-19 school year with a stipend of $750.

• The hourly rate for homebound instructors was approved on an as-needed basis at $30.

• Part-time Cooperative Education Coordinator Stephanie Barto, 10 days of summer employment.

• Guidance counselor Eugene Colosimo was approved for 18 days of summer employment.

• Culinary Arts instructor Anthony Burke and Culinary Arts instructional aides Ashleigh Papay and Michele Troutman were approved for two additional workdays before Aug. 22 at their per diem rates.

• Philip Strubinger as the building substitute effective Aug. 22, through the close of the 2018-19 school year.

• Stephen Brili, James DeLotto, Frank DeMatto, Autumn Frey, Christopher Gallagher, Jeffrey Hazelton, Michele Marouchoc, Tammy Marshall, Donald Mc­Gorry, Walter O’Donnell, Frank Olmstead, Ashleigh Papay, Robert Pathroff, John Rogers, Elizabeth Schlecht, Eric Schlect and Douglas Witt were approved as custodian, maintenance, groundskeeper and cleaner personnel, effective May 18 through June 2019.

• The hourly rate for substitute van and bus drivers was set at $20 through June 2019.

• Katherine Holton and Lynn Jo Kester were approved as substitute van and bus drivers through June 2019.

• Joseph Gorski, Katherine Holton, Lynn Jo Kester and Taryn Stewart were approved as substitute SHINE van and bus drivers at the rate of $30 per run through 2019.

• Part-time custodian/maintenance/groundskeeper/cleaner Michele Marouchoc’s resignation was accepted, effective April 25.

• Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 was approved for use of a designated instructional area to operate Life Skills Support Classes at the CCTI facility for the 2018-19 school year.

• Ten students were approved to attend the 54th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference competition in Louisville, Kentucky, from June 25 through 29. SkillsUSA major adviser Kevin Kuehner, assistant adviser Maritza Reinbold and administrative director David Reinbold were approved to chaperon the event. The cost of registration, transportation and lodging comes to $16,499.

• Kirk, Summa and Company was appointed as auditor for Carbon Career and Technical Institute’s Joint Operating Committee for the 2018-19 school year, effective July 1 at an annual rate of $17,500.

• Substitute rates for Category A per diem teachers were set at $95 per day for days one through 15, and $100 per day for days 16 and beyond, for the 2018-19 school year.

• Substitute rates for Category B short-term teachers were set at $160 per day for days 16 through 89 for the 2018-19 school year.

• Substitute rates for teacher aides were set at $95 per day for days one through 15, and $100 per day for days 16 and beyond, for the 2018-19 school year.

• Substitute rates for secretaries were set at $100 per day.

• Substitute rates for custodian/maintenance/groundskeeper/cleaner personnel was set at $12 per hour for the 2018-19 school year.

• Auto Collision Repair instructor Dennis Starry was approved to attend the Ohio Technical College’s Instructor Seminar from June 25 to 27, in Cleveland, Ohio, at a cost of $300 to cover the cost of registration and lodging.
