Carbon chamber is hosting its first nonprofit expo

Published January 08. 2019 12:18PM

The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corp. will host its first nonprofit expo in Carbon County and invites the community to attend.

The expo is designed to be an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to share their mission with the community, local businesses and the 2019 Carbon Leadership Class. The primary goal is to help members of the community understand how they might get involved and support the various organizations in the county, whether it is as a volunteer, supporter or a member. This expo will also serve as a time to bring all nonprofits together in the county.

Alice Wanamaker, CCEDC’s assistant vice president, said the expo has been a long time coming.

“The Leadership Carbon Class of 2018 focused on identifying the nonprofits in the county. This event is going to showcase them and help them reach the broader community and hopefully recruit new volunteers. Many people set goals to get involved in the new year. This is the perfect opportunity to find out just how to make that happen.”

The expo is being hosted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Township Fire Co., 2440 Fairyland Road, Lehighton.

Entry is free and the fire company kitchen will be open for lunch.

Vendors include; American Red Cross, Carbon County Art League, CTC Manufacturing, Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, Domestic Violence Service Center, Kidder Hike and Bike Trails Group, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Lehigh Valley SCORE, Miller-Keystone Blood Center, Peaceful Knights, Pine Brook Family Answers, Summit Hill Heritage Center, Times News, Turn To Us Inc., among others.

Visitors are encouraged to attend the expo and meet with the different groups from around Carbon County. For more info, visit www.carboncountychamber.org or call 610-379-5000.
