Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items last week:
• Approved a grant-in-aid application/agreement with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole for the improvement of adult probation services through the reimbursement of eligible salaries of professional staff. The estimated revenue is $65,000.
• Approved the rejection of the food services bids for the prison and authorized readvertising the project.
• Approved the Medical Assistance Transportation Program allocation acknowledgment letter listing $597,964 as the initial allocation for 2019-20.
• Approved completion extension dates for Community Development Block Grant projects in Packer Township, Joe Andruzzi Park from June 30 to Dec. 31; Lehighton, Baer Memorial Pool, from July 26 to Oct. 1; Franklin Township, water improvements/Red Hill Road, from July 26 to Nov. 29; and Palmerton, street improvements/Princeton Avenue, from July 26 from Nov. 1.
• Approved the submission of an application to the Housing and Redevelopment Insurance Exchange, the county’s workers’ compensation carrier, for up to $15,000 in available safety improvement grant funds for the replacement of the intercom system at the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
• Adopted a resolution honoring Matthew Widdicombe, member of Boy Scout Troop 555, Jim Thorpe, on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

• Resignations: Angela S. Mazzei of Nesquehoning, corrections officer, effective July 10; and Erin C. Pannell of Bargersville, Indiana, summer law clerk, court administration, effective July 24.
• Changes of status: Sophia E. Civitano of Weissport, from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters to part-time corrections officer, effective July 12; Samantha M. Neikum of Beaver Meadows, from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters to corrections officer, effective July 29; and Gavin C. Moser of Lansford, from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters to corrections officer, effective July 29.
