Carbon County court – ARD
Seven first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
Placed were the following:
Chase Alexander Costic, 23, of Minersville, was placed for two years on burglary and related charges. He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2018, by Lansford police for entry into a home along West Water Street. He was charged with six counts.
He was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.
Vincenzo Mark Gates, 30, of Weatherly, was placed for six months for disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice. He was arrested on March 11 by Weatherly police along Main Street.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Danyelle Johannsen, 24, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for a year on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was arrested on March 31 by Palmerton police along West Princeton Avenue.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 50 hours of community service.
Tiffany J. Lewis, 32, of Deer Park, New York, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on Feb. 22 by state police at Fern Ridge following a vehicle along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Briana Labria Moore, 21, of Darby, Delaware County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on March 1 by state police at the Pocono barracks following a traffic stop along the turnpike in Kidder Township.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Jonathan Tyler Wagner, 23, of Lehighton, was placed for 18 months on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was arrested on March 26 by Franklin Township police along Union Hill Road after police served a search warrant.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 75 hours of community service.
William Harold Whalen, 50, of Minersville, was placed for a year on a charge of fraud, altered, forged, counterfeit title or registration. He was arrested on April 24 by Weatherly police following a traffic stop along First Street. He was charged with six counts.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
