Carbon County court – ARD

Eleven first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year on driving under the influence charges by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Ronald James Caputo Jr., 19, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 11 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Mariam Daly Contes, 28, of Hazleton, was arrested on July 7, 2018, by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Danielle Dolly, 22, of Lansford, was arrested on Feb. 22 along Patterson Street by Lansford police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Ronald Lee Gerhart, 51, of Weatherly, was arrested on March 9 by state police at Hazleton along Route 93 in Beaver Meadows. A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.

He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Frank Grey, 34, of Weatherly, was arrested on May 26, 2018, by Weatherly police along First Street. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

George Houseknecht, 49, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County, was arrested on June 9 by state police at Hazleton along Chestnut Street in Tresckow. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Benjamin D. McKenzie, 27, of Cleveland, Ohio, was arrested on March 30 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.

He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Dejour Blair Scott, 29, of Catasauqua, was arrested on July 1, 2018, along Route 248 in Franklin Township. A test revealed 0.10 BAC and the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Tyler A. Specht, 24, of Allentown, was arrested on Feb. 6 by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. He refused a test.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Barbara Teresa Tomaseski, 58, of Blakeslee, was arrested on April 17 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Miranda Kay Wambold, 29, of Palmerton, was arrested on April 24 along Mauch Chunk Road, in Palmerton, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.13 BAC.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 30 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
