Carbon County court – DUI

A total of six defendants, who previously entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence and related counts, were sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:

Louis V. Clouser, 46, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, 25 hours of community service and his license was suspended for a year.

He arrested on Feb. 10 by Lansford police along Patterson Street. A test revealed a 0.13 BAC.

He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on June 13 and serve it on consecutive weekends of two days, two days and one day.

Randy Allen Gildner, 65, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, 25 hours of community service, restitution for damages of $3,121.56 and license suspended for a year.

He was arrested on Dec. 13, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 at Bowmanstown. A test revealed a 0.28 BAC.

He began the jail term immediately.

Kenneth Joseph Pahler, 47, of West Hazleton, was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, 100 hours of community service and license suspended for 18 months. On a charge of driving under suspension, DUI related, he was sentenced to serve 45 to 90 days, but must serve the full 90 days, and pay a fine of $1,000. The jail terms run concurrently.

He was arrested on April 30, 2017, by Weatherly police along Wilbur Street. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.

Currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges, he was given credit for 144 days already served and paroled.

Louis Francis Holler, 52, of Allentown, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested on Nov. 21, 2014, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC. He was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but revoked from it for violating conditions.

Jesse Lee Leiby, 37, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $750, 25 hours of community service and his license was suspended for a year.

He was arrested on May 22, 2018, by Mahoning Township police along Mauch Chunk Street. He refused a test.

He will begin the jail term at 10 p.m. on June 11 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Robert L. Matlock, 30, of Blakeslee, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and his license was suspended for a year.

He was given credit for 10 days already served in jail on the charge and paroled.

He was arrested on May 24, 2014, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
