Carbon County court — ARD
Seven first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program last Friday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it or are revoked from it, then they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
Jacob A. Christman, 19, of Coplay, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Feb. 20 by Lansford police in the 700 block of East Patterson Street following a traffic stop.
He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Richard Adler Ferrer, 23, of Tobyhanna, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on May 11, 2017, by Kidder Township police along Route 903 in Lake Harmony.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Angel Luis Gines Robles, 46, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on Oct. 29, 2017, along Ridge Street by Lansford police. He refused a test.
He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Kristin A. Pantzar, 31, of Coaldale, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on March 20 by Lansford police at Abbott and Tunnel streets.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Pedro Francis Rodriguez, 35, of Larksville, Luzerne County, was placed for a year on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 18, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Aura Alicia Troche, 60, of Weatherly, was placed for a year on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Nov. 18, 2017, by Weatherly police along Main Street. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.
She was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 30 days.
Steven Joshua Turner, 23, of Elyria, Ohio, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Nov. 22, 2017, along I-80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI must follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
