Carbon County court — ARD

Eleven first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.

Tammy A. Aviles, 41, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County, was placed for 18 months on counts of acquiring or obtaining controlled substances by misrepresentation.

She was charged by agents of the state Attorney General’s office for writing prescriptions to obtain phentermine at various locations while she was employed and a patient for Dr. Edward Manzella, at his Penn Forest Township office, without his permission or knowledge. Authorities said she wrote the prescriptions during the time frame of Aug. 11 to Oct. 21, 2016.

She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 75 hours of community service.

Kala Joy Brown, 18, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

She was arrested on April 10 by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Alexis Hird, 19, of Walnutport, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on March 27 by Lansford police in the area of the Family Dollar Store along East Patterson Street.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Steven Jaramillo, 20, of Coaldale, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana.

He was arrested on Feb. 13 by Summit Hill police along Laurel Drive and West White Bear Drive.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

James Gregory Jelleyman, 22, of Summit Hill, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on March 16 by Summit Hill police in the 100 block of East Amidon Street.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Robert Charles Keller, 18, of Weatherly, was placed on a charge of possession of a prohibited offensive weapon — a spring mechanism knife following a traffic stop on East Main Street by Weatherly police.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Katelyn Kirchner, 22, of Walnutport, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.

She was arrested on March 27 by Lansford police in the area of the Family Dollar Store along East Patterson Street following a traffic stop. She was a passenger in the vehicle.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Maggie May Magrini, 31, of Birdsboro, Berks County, was placed on a charge of resisting arrest.

She was arrested on May 27 by Lansford police in the 300 block of West Kline Avenue after officers responded to a report of a fight in progress.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Lisette Olvera, 29, of Hazleton, was placed for 18 months on a charge of simple assault.

She was arrested on March 29, 2017, by state police at Hazleton for an incident along Bank Street, in Banks Township, involving a female victim.

She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 75 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Patricia M. Rauch, 44, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of materially false written statement — purchase.

She was charged by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Dec. 22, 2017, in which she attempted to purchase a firearm at Walmart and made a false statement on the application.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Joseph Eugene Vadino, 36, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, was placed on a driving under the influence charge.

He was arrested on Jan. 21 along Route 903 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.

He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, his license was suspended for 30 days and he must follow any recommendation of his drug and alcohol evaluation.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
