Carbon County court — ARD
Five offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they then would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.
Heather Beers, 50, of Franklin Township, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was arrested on Nov. 7, 2017, in the area of 350 State Road by Franklin Township police.
She was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and ordered to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendation for treatment and make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office.
Calista Jenna Curran, of Levittown, Bucks County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.
She was arrested on April 29 by state police at Fern Ridge along Red Ridge Trail in Penn Forest Township.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and render 10 hours of community service.
Caleb Tylor Klitsch, 19, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on April 8 by Palmerton police along Mauch Chunk Road.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Christy Ruch, 43, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
She was arrested on March 10 by Lehighton police and refused to submit to a test.
She was assessed $600, her license was suspended for 60 days and she must follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation.
Eric Scott Sanders, 45, of Fleetwood, Berks County, was placed on a charge of harassment, communication repeatedly to another.
He was arrest on Feb. 13 by state police at Lehighton for sending unwanted emails to a female in Penn Forest Township.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a mental health evaluation and have no contact with the victim.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
