A total of 21 defendants in pending driving under the influence cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year.

Cathy Anne Cairns, 63, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Nov. 12, 2018, by Jim Thorpe police along North Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600 for the cost of the program, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Jennifer Clark, 44, of East Orange, New Jersey, was arrested on Dec. 4, 2017, by state police at Fern Ridge along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Melinda Marie Conklin, 35, of Parryville, was arrested on May 15, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along Fireline Road in Bowmanstown. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Jeffrey Espinal, 23, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 3, 2018, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Karen Sue Glueck, 54, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 30, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.

She was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Justin Hahn, 20, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 3, 2018, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Nicholas David Hawk, 18, of Palmerton, was arrested on Nov. 13, 2018, by state police at Lehighton. No test result was available.

He was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 30 days.

Jessica Lynn Horton, 28, of Pen Argyl, was arrested on Aug. 26, 2018, along Interchange Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.

She was assessed $500, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 30 days.

Calvin Lee Koch, 20, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 29, 2018, along Alley E by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Sara Vaun Marshall, 20, of Lehighton, was arrested on Aug. 13, 2018, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 90 days.

Suzanne M. McFadden, 48, of Tamaqua, was arrested on April 9, 2018, along Lentz Trail by Jim Thorpe police. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC.

She was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Manuel Clemente Oyola, 46, of East Stroudsburg, was arrested on May 13, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Kidder Township. A test revealed a 0.09 BAC.

He was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Jose L. Padilla Roman, 44, of Hazleton, was arrested on May 7, 2018, along Route 93 by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed a 0.22 BAC.

He was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Zachary Scott Richardson, 22, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on Sept. 23, 2018, along Patterson Street by Lansford police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Edwin Roman, 28, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested on June 13, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Christopher Sonto Santafiore, 32, of Effort, was arrested on Oct. 30, 2018, by state police at Lehighton, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Kim Michelle Sexton, 47, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 6, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along State Road in Franklin Township. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.

She was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Skyler H. Smalley, 21, of Summit Hill, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2018, along Broadway by Jim Thorpe police. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.

She was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 90 days.

Gale Solt, 51, Lehighton, was arrested on March 9, 2018, by Franklin Township police along Interchange Road. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650, ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $4,476.67 in damages and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Ivana Michaela Stafford, 38, of Lansford, was arrested on Sept. 24, 2018, by Mahoning Township police along Route 443. A test revealed a 0.23 BAC.

She was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Ethan Vermillion, 21, of Summit Hill, was arrested on Aug. 18, 2018, along Hazard Street by Summit Hill police. A test revealed a 0.21 BAC.

He was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $496 and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.

Most caught driving with the high BAC % will probably do it again. Tolerance to alcohol allows the brain to say "I'm fine".
...and you're probably over the limit.
