Carbon County court — ARD
Seven people were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday on driving under the influence and related charges.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II placed each for one year with conditions.
William J. Bausch III, 40, of Weissport, was arrested on Oct. 27, 2018, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.23 BAC.
He was assessed $550 for the cost of the program, his license was suspended for 60 days and he was ordered to render 20 hours of community service and make restitution, if any, in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office. He had been involved in a crash.
Damian Cole Mele, 20, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2018, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600, his license suspended for 90 days and he was ordered to render 20 hours of community service.
Darin Murphy, 52, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Oct. 22, 2018, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Doris Aishah Rivera, 26, of Hazleton, was arrested on Oct. 9, 2018, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
She was assessed $600 and her license was suspended for 60 days.
Angel Luis Rodriguez, 46, of Bronx, New York, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2018, along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 60 days.
Brenda D. Smellowsky, 67, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on March 26, 2018, by Jim Thorpe police along North Street. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.
She was assessed $550 and her license was suspended for 60 days.
David W. Weaver, 19, of Levittown, was arrested on Oct. 23, 2018, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and his license was suspended for 90 days.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
