Nine first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Friday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

The nine were placed on driving under the influence charges and related offenses, and all were placed for a year. Those placed included:

Susan Boylan, 57, of Kulpmont, Northumberland County, was arrested on July 30, 2018, along White Street by Nesquehoning police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hour of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Daniel Castillo, 21, of Chicago, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2018, along Intestate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Desiree J. DeAngelis, 26, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Oct. 12, 2018, by Jim Thorpe police along North Street. A test revealed a 0.27 BAC.

She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Laura A. Dorshimer, 49, of Bowmanstown, was arrested on Dec. 18, 2018, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue.

She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and her license was suspended for 60 days.

Zachariah Mahm Elkhyati, 20, of Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 18 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Kyle B. Gerber, 22, of Palmerton, was arrested on Jan. 29 by state police at Lehighton along Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

James R. Jerrell, 36, of Allentown, was arrested on June 5, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Zachary J. Keegan, 27, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Oct. 28, 2017, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.

He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Dillon Jeffrey Sernak, 25, of Weatherly, was arrested on Jan. 6 by state police at Hazleton along Main Street in Tresckow. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
