Carbon County court — drug cases

A Carbon County man admitted to a drug-dealing charge on Monday afternoon in the county court and is going to apply for placement in a special state prison program.

He was one of 13 defendants in pending drug-related cases to enter a guilty plea before Senior Judge Dudley N. Anderson, of Lycoming County.

Lansford incident

Anthony W. Hill, 30, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The first count stems from an incident on Aug. 25, 2018, when Lansford police made a vehicle stop at Bertsch and Tunnel streets. At the time Hill had an active warrant for his arrest out of Schuylkill County. Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

The paraphernalia charge stems from an incident on Sept. 19, 2018, in the 400 block of West Coal Street filed by Nesquehoning police.

It was noted Hill is facing a sentencing proceeding in Schuylkill County. His attorney, Gregory L. Mousseau, chief public defender, said Schuylkill officials have agreed to let Hill be evaluated for the state’s Intermediate Punishment program. The program runs for two years and includes about seven months in state prison followed by a period of time in an intensive inpatient drug rehabilitation program followed by a period of time in a halfway house.

Anderson agreed to go along with the plea agreement and let Hill apply for a place in the state program.

Other pleas

Chad Bryan Stamm, 39, of Danielsville, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. He was arrested on July 14, 2018, by Palmerton police following a traffic stop along Delaware Avenue. He also pleaded to a count of driving without a license.

Anderson sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison on the drug count and a fine of $200 on the summary offense. Stamm is currently an inmate in the Northampton County prison on other charges.

Jamie L. Brownlie, 36, of Mountain Top, Luzerne County, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

He was arrested on Jan. 17 by Weatherly police following a traffic stop along Evergreen Avenue.

Anderson sentenced him to serve six to 12 months in prison with credit for 88 days already served. The term is consecutive to a prison term he is currently serving in Luzerne County.

Tammy M. Reph, 41, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. She was arrested on Oct. 7, 2018, by Palmerton police in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue.

She is currently an inmate in the state prison at Muncy, Lycoming County, serving a term of nine to 24 months imposed in Lehigh County.

Anderson placed her on state probation for one year, concurrent with her present sentence.

Christopher George Dotzel, 52, of Wapwallopen, Luzerne County, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charge was added to the original criminal complaint. He was arrested on Aug. 2, 2018, following a traffic stop along East Main Street by Weatherly police.

Anderson imposed a fine of $300.

Genevieve Lee Snyder, 25, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. In exchange for the plea, a charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped.

She was arrested on April 5, 2018, by state police at Lehighton following a traffic stop along Route 534.

She was placed on probation for nine months.

Frederick Galade, 47, of Drums, Luzerne County, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 20 by Weatherly police at the Weatherwood Nursing Home. Police responded to a report of a person using drugs in a restroom at the facility.

Anderson placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment. The term runs consecutive to a sentence he is currently serving in Luzerne County. On a summary offense of public drunkenness he was fined $100.

Holly Ann Rider, 45, of Hazleton, and formerly of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance, heroin, and false identification to law enforcement. She was originally charged with 16 counts.

She was arrested on April 7, 2017, along Route 903 by Kidder Township police.

She was placed on probation for a year on each count, running consecutively.

Eric Baker, 26, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, heroin. He was arrested on Dec. 26, 2018, by Weatherly police along Kline Street.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 35 hours of community service.

Vincent Anthony Yates, 36, of Beaver Meadows, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance - heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. He was arrested on Nov. 18, 2018, by Beaver Meadows police along Berwick Street.

He was placed on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently, and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation. On the summary offense he was fined $50.

Andrew Bryan Cyr, 34, of McAdoo, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance - heroin. He was arrested on April 25, 2015, by Kidder Township police following a traffic stop along Route 903 at Route 534. He was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.

He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Robert Christopher Matthews, 30, of Germansville, Lehigh County, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, crystal methamphetamine. He was arrested on Feb. 19 by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop at routes 903 and 115.

Anderson placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 35 hours of community service.

Randy Scott Nielson Jr., 39, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Oct. 2, 2018, by Nesquehoning police at Route 209 and Cemetery Road.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $250.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow all conditions set by the adult probation office.
