Carbon County court — DUI
Two defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced Tuesday in Carbon County court.
Judge Steven R. Serfass imposed sentences on:
Courtney Megan Konklin, 38, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced on two counts of DUI in separate incidents.
He previously pleaded to one count and entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to the second count.
In both cases she was sentenced to serve 10 days to 24 months in prison with the terms running concurrently, total fines of $1,000, two years of license suspensions and render a total of 100 hours of community service.
She was arrested on the first count on Jan. 13, 2016, along Route 903 in Jim Thorpe by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC. The second arrest occurred on Sept. 1, 2016, also by state police at Lehighton. She refused a test in that case.
John Henry Merz, 29, of Rockaway, New Jersey, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 as a first-time offender.
He was arrested on Oct. 29, 2016, along Route 1001 by state police at Lehighton. He was originally stopped for speeding. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.
He must also render 25 hours of community service.
Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
