Carbon County court — DUI

Five defendants entered guilty pleas on Friday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence charges. Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:

Bryan L. Allen, 39, of Port Carbon, Schuylkill County, was arrested on July 1, 2017, by Lansford police along Patterson Street. He refused a test.

A first offense for sentencing purposes, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Ethan Leroy Bartholomew, 26, of Moscow, Lackawanna County, was arrested on Feb. 10, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He will begin the jail term at 7 p.m. on March 2.

William D. Eisenlau, 80, of Oceanside, New York, was arrested on May 31, 2017, by Nesquehoning police along Route 209. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred so Eisenlau can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.

Michael Thomas Unger, 44, of Effort, was arrested on Nov. 21, 2016, along Route 940 by Kidder Township police. He refused a test. He also pleaded to driving under suspension — DUI related.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Nicholas John Yatsula, 36, of McAdoo, was arrested on June 23, 2017, by state police at Hazleton along Chestnut Street in Banks Township. He refused a test.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Those sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
