Carbon County court — DUI
Four people were sentenced on Tuesday in Carbon County court on driving under the influence and related charges.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed the sentences on the defendants who previously entered guilty pleas to the charges.
Kristina Dawn Kadian, 29, of Morrisdale, Clearfield County, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. She was also ordered to get a mental health evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and have no contact with the victims. She also must serve one year of probation, consecutive to the DUI count. On charges of criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia she was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the other counts.
She was arrested on May 6, 2016, at the Franklin Township police station. She came to the station in response to a domestic incident occurring previously along Indian Hill Road. At the station officers determined she was under the influence and took her for a test, which revealed the presence of a controlled substance. She was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.
The mischief count is tied to the domestic incident.
The drug counts stem from an incident on July 16, 2016, along Broad Street filed by Beaver Meadows police following a traffic stop.
She will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on April 2.
Keith M. Enlund, 32, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension.
He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2017, in the 700 block of Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He was involved in an accident and suffered injuries.
He was also ordered to make restitution of $400 to the victim.
The term runs consecutive to a probation period he is currently serving.
He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on April 6.
Travis N. Everett, 40, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension.
He was arrested by state police at Lehighton on Aug. 27, 2018, along Route 248 in Bowmanstown.
He will begin the jail term at 7 a.m. April 2.
Plea entered
Michele Liu Sansone, 30, of Diamond Bar, California, pleaded guilty to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Oct. 9, 2016, by Franklin Township police. He refused a blood test.
Nanovic sentenced him to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $300 and one-year license suspension.
He began the jail term immediately.
Drug case
Ryan A. Cain, 49, of Germansville, Lehigh County, was placed on probation for a year on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana.
He was arrested on May 25, 2017, by Palmerton police along Lehigh Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the area for a suspicious person and found Cain. He had marijuana on him.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation, and those charged with DUI must follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
