Carbon County court — DUI
Five defendants, who previously pleaded to driving under the influence charges, were sentenced last week in Carbon County court.
Judge Steven R. Serfass imposed sentences on the following:
Vincent Richard Denithorne, 52, of Leola, Lancaster County, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 59 months in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program (house arrest) with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service.
He was arrested on July 1, 2017, along Route 209 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Michael Andrew Dolena, 64, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.
He was arrested on Jan. 15, 2015, by Lehighton police. There were 24 continuances granted in the case.
He began the jail term at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Ryan John Lakata, 26, of Weatherly, was sentenced to time-served (119 days) to five years in jail and ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, make restitution of $1,652.40 and render 100 hours of community service.
He was arrested on June 18, 2016, along Broad Street in Beaver Meadows by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Patrick Jordan Sanchez, 24, of Allentown, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year, and render a total of 75 hours of community service. On a charge of possession of marijuana he was placed on probation for a year concurrent to the DUI count.
He was arrested on Dec. 5, 2015, in Palmerton.
He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on April 6.
Jason Michael Wentz, 42, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year.
He was arrested on Oct. 15, 2017, along Bridge Street in Weissport by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was given credit for three days already served and paroled.
Drug count
Whitney Hibbler, 28, of Lehighton, was placed on probation for a year on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested on Sept. 3, 2017, by Lehighton police at the Blue Mountain Health Systems Lehighton Campus. Police responded to the emergency room for an unruly person. She was the person causing the problems, and paraphernalia was found on her when she was arrested.
She was also ordered to get a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 50 hours of community service.
The term runs consecutive to a prison term she is currently serving in the county prison.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
