Carbon County court — DUI
Eleven defendants entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence and related charges before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II in Carbon County court last Thursday.
Robert Michael Stelling, 46, of New Tripoli, and formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to three DUI counts.
He was arrested on the first count on Sept. 10, 2016, along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC. The second arrest occurred on Nov. 20, 2016, also on Forest Inn Road by state police. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC. The third arrest occurred on March 25, 2017, along Stony Ridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.
Nanovic deferred sentencing so Stelling can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest.
Jesse Glen Harrell III, 28, of Saylorsburg, was arrested on Jan. 31, 2016, along Covered Bridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. He refused a test.
Sentencing was deferred for a D&A evaluation.
Christina Lauren Helen Zeininger, 39, of Scranton, was arrested on Aug. 6, 2016, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC. Sentencing was deferred for a D&A evaluation.
Jacob Tyler Hofacker, 24, of Palmerton, was arrested on June 30, 2014, by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 in Franklin Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program, but was revoked for violating conditions. Sentencing was deferred for a comprehensive D&A evaluation.
Jeremy Ryan Smith, 41, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 5, 2014, along Union Hill Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. He also pleaded to driving under suspension.
He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. On the suspension count he was fined $200.
He was given credit for two days already served and will begin serving the third day on April 18 at 10 a.m.
Alexis Jordan, 23, of Bath, Northampton County, was arrested on Feb. 10, 2017, in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred for a D&A evaluation.
David Vazquez, 42, of Allentown, was arrested on Nov. 24, 2016, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed a 0.30 BAC. Sentencing was deferred for a comprehensive D&A evaluation.
Renee J. Shore, 46, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Oct. 2, 2017, along Delaware Drive in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.
A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.
John Tworkowsky, 25, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 17, 2017, near the intersection of Skyline Drive and Fairyland Road by Franklin Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred for a D&A evaluation.
Tworkowsky is currently an inmate in the county prison.
Matthew Kromer, 35, of Frackville, was arrested on Nov. 28, 2017, along Mahoning Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred for a D&A evaluation. Kromer is currently an inmate in the state correctional institution at Mahanoy, Schuylkill County, on unrelated charges.
Each defendant sentenced must pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their D&A evaluation.
