Carbon County court — DUI
Twelve defendants entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence and related counts.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:
Felicia Christina Doughtery, 21, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 28, 2017, by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. She also pleaded to one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Police said there were three minor children in the vehicle at the time with two not properly fastened in safety devices.
On the DUI count, Serfass sentenced her to serve 72 hours to 60 months in prison, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use. On the endangering charge she was placed on probation for 36 months, concurrent with the DUI charge. She must also render a total of 250 hours of community service.
She will begin the jail term at 7 a.m. on April 12.
Tara Lee Hunter, 39, of Wescosville, Lehigh County, was arrested on Feb. 29, 2017, by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. She is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on unrelated charges.
Katrina L. Sanabria, 33, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 23, 2017, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
She was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on April 12.
Melanie Ann Green, 50, of Lehighton, was arrested on March 5, 2017, along Coal Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.22 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred so she could apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest.
Joseph Daniel Fritz Rex, 21, of West Chester, Chester County, was arrested on March 5, 2017, by Mahoning Township police along Mill Road. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He also pleaded to a charge of simple assault in another case. He was arrested on Feb. 14, 2016, by Jim Thorpe police for an incident in the area of the 100 block of West Broadway which police called a domestic dispute. He was accused of assaulting a woman at that location.
Serfass deferred sentencing as he needs a D & A evaluation for the DUI charge.
Ryan Sean Cebrosky, 26, of Palmerton, was arrested on Aug. 31, 2017, in the 600 block of Mauch Chunk Road by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on Oct. 27, 2017, at Second and Iron street filed by Lehighton police.
Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a D & A evaluation.
Lauren E. Colangelo, 31, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2017, along Ninth Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a D & A evaluation.
William J. Hamby, 50, of Slatington, was arrested on Oct. 21, 2017, at Route 443 and Ninth Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a D & A evaluation.
Jayson Thomas Eubanks, 30, of Quakertown, Bucks County, was arrested on Dec. 16, 2017, at Route 443 and 209 by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.21 BAC.
He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He began the jail term immediately.
Jesse Roger Balliet, 30, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 22, 2017, at Route 209 and Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for house arrest.
Anthony Sarmento, 28, of Downingtown, Chester County, was arrested on Nov. 6, 2017, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a summary motor vehicle code violation he was fined $25 and costs.
Sarmento, an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a probation violation charge, began the jail term immediately.
Anthony Jenkins, 52, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Dec. 24, 2017, along the turnpike in Penn Forest Township by state police at Pocono. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.
He was sentenced to serve 10 days to 24 months in prison, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 100 hours of community service.
He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on April 30.
James Russell Meckes, 41, of Weissport, was arrested on June 24, 2017, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so Meckes can obtain a D & A evaluation.
Jason Cory Wisor, 33, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 26, 2017, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred so Wisor can obtain a D & A evaluation.
Judge Nanovic
One defendant entered a guilty plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II in Carbon County court last week.
Tabitha R. Amey, 43, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 9, 2016, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC. Sentencing was deferred for a D & A evaluation.
Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow any recommendation of the D & A evaluation.
