Published November 07. 2017 11:47AM

Ten defendants entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Monday to driving under the influence charges.

The pleas were accepted by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Alexander Kevin Dreher, 28, of Lehighton was arrested on Dec. 28, 2016, along Iron Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He also entered a plea in a second case to possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Palmerton police following a traffic stop along Route 248 on Feb. 20. Dreher was a back seat passenger and was found with the paraphernalia.

On the drug count Nanovic placed Dreher on probation for a year and ordered him to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.

Sentencing was deferred on the DUI charge because Dreher needs a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Dreher is currently an inmate in the county prison on a probation violation charge.

Stacy Lynn Behler, 31, of Palmerton, was arrested on Jan. 17 along Bridge Street in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Behler can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest.

Shane Michael Austin, 21, of East Bangor, Northampton County, was arrested on Feb. 11 along Route 248 by Palmerton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Austin can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Nanovic sentenced him to serve 30 days to six months in jail, a fine of $750, one-year license suspension, court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.

He was given credit for 118 days already spent in jail on the charge and paroled.

He has a detainer on him from another county so he won’t be released from custody.
