Carbon County court — DUI
A total of three defendants, who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and related charges, were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.
Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:
Jamie Christopher Aucone, 28, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He was arrested on March 2 by state police at Lehighton along Forest Inn Road in Aquashicola after being involved in a crash. He refused a test.
Aucone is currently serving a four- to eight-month probation violation term in the county prison. Matika ruled his sentence run concurrent with that term. Aucone was granted work-release privileges.
Olaniyan Quillen, 38, of Easton, was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail followed by 59 months in the county’s intermediate punishment program — house arrest — with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service.
He was arrested on Dec. 7, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He will begin the jail term at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends. After completing the jail term he will begin the IPP with supervision by the Northampton County probation office.
Jason Daniel Rose, 32, of Beaverdale, Cambria County, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He was arrested on July 1, 2015, in Kidder Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was given credit for three days already served and will begin serving the final two days at noon on Sept. 6.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
