Carbon County court — DUI

A total of 18 defendants entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence and related charges.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:

Amy M. Billman, 41, of Bowmanstown, was arrested on Feb. 23 by state police at Lehighton along Fireline Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A test revealed a 0.26 BAC.

Matika sentenced her to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

She will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Aug. 23 and serve three days and then Aug. 30 and serve two days.

Ronald William Musselman, 35, of York, was arrested on June 1 by Lehighton police along Iron Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Musselman is currently an inmate at the York County prison, serving a three- to six-month probation violation term.

Matika sentenced him to serve 90 days to 60 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service when paroled. On a summary offense of driving without a license, he was fined $200.

He was given credit for nine days served, and the term runs concurrent with York County’s sentence.

Dwaine M. Solana II, 42, of Weatherly, was arrested on Feb. 24 by state police at Hazleton in Lausanne Township. He also pleaded to one count each of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Troopers responded to a residence along Buck Mountain Road for a neighbor dispute. The police report indicates that Solana displayed a gun and fired three shots in the air. He fled in a vehicle but was later stopped and found to be under the influence. He refused any testing.

Matika deferred sentencing so Solana can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Randy Lee Edgar, 37, of Lehighton, was arrested on March 4 by Lehighton police along Second Street. Police made the initial stop to serve an arrest warrant on Edgar issued by the state parole board. He was found under the influence. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Edgar is currently an inmate in the state correctional institution at Mahanoy, Schuylkill County, awaiting action on a parole violation. Matika deferred sentencing so Edgar can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Daniel Dagorn, 63, of Lehighton, was arrested on March 24 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed a 0.25 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred so Dagorn can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Daniel Lintvedt, 38, of Pocono Lake, was arrested on Sept. 29, 2017, along Hill Road by Jim Thorpe police. No test results were noted.

Matika sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He was given credit for 65 days spent in an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program and paroled.

Bruce Kunkel, 54, of Tamaqua, was arrested on Aug. 26, 2018, by Lansford police along Patterson Street. He refused a test.

Sentencing was deferred so Kunkel can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.

Autumn Rose Urena, 21, of Easton, was arrested on May 4, 2018, by Palmerton police along Edgemont Avenue, after being involved in a crash. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.

Matika sentenced her to serve six to 60 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, make restitution of $3,750 for damages in the crash and render 100 hours of community service when paroled.

She was given credit for 14 days already served and began the jail term immediately.

Seabron Deas, 37, of Allentown, was arrested on Dec. 30, 2018, by state police at the Pocono barracks along the turnpike in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC. He also pleaded to driving under suspension - DUI related.

Deas is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a parole violation charge. Sentencing was deferred.

Taylor Wesley Schmitt, 29, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on March 13 by Mahoning Township police along Center Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Schmitt is currently an inmate in the county prison on a probation violation charge.

Matika sentenced him to serve 90 days to 60 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render 100 hours of community service. On the drug count he was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI count.

He was given credit for 82 days already served.

Naomi Buskirk, 27, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 4 by Lehighton police along Bankway. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Matika sentenced her to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

She will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. on Sept. 13.

Matthew E. Strohl, 32, of Summit Hill, was arrested on May 26, 2018, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin the jail term at noon on Sept. 6.

Stacy Lynn Miller, 31, of East Stroudsburg, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2017, by Palmerton police along Third Street. A test revealed a 0.27 BAC.

She was also scheduled to be sentenced in another DUI case she previously entered a guilty plea.

Matika deferred sentencing so she can apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.

Ronald L. Carnes, 26, of Slatington, was arrested on Jan. 15 by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 in Parryville. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Carnes can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. He is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison on a probation violation charge.

Ojeda Henry Gonzalez, 53, of East Stroudsburg, was arrested on Feb. 26 by Lansford police along Patterson Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. The jail term began immediately.

After he serves his minimum he will be returned to the Monroe County prison, where he is facing a parole violation.

Kristin Nicole Eschbach, 37, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 26 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Eschbach can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for placement in the IPP.

Peter Paul Perigrino, 77, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on March 9 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.

Matika sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin the jail term at noon on Aug. 31 and serve two days; Sept. 7, two days; and Sept. 14, one day.

Keith R. Straubinger, 60, of Coaldale, was arrested on April 20 by Nesquehoning police along Route 54. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.

Sentencing was deferred so he can apply for placement in the IPP.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
