Carbon County court — guilty pleas
Eight defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Monday before Judge Joseph J. Matika in Carbon County court.
Jocelyn Helen Tiglio, 23, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of institutional vandalism.
She was arrested on Jan. 27 by Weatherly police on an assault charge, and while at the police station caused damages to the office.
She is currently an inmate in the county prison on the assault count and has a pending probation violation proceeding.
Matika placed her on probation for two years, concurrent with the sentence she is now serving and ordered her to render 100 hours of community service when paroled, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, attend and successfully complete an anger management course and make restitution for damages of $1,100 to the borough of Weatherly.
Thomas Leroy Hynson Jr., 34, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of violations concerning licenses.
Hynson was stopped by state police at Fern Ridge on July 31, 2017, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough for a traffic violation. At the stop police conducted a search of the vehicle and four Texas driver’s licenses, all with Hynson’s name on them, were found in the trunk.
Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service.
Joseph J. Polashenski IV, 28, of McAdoo, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
He was arrested on Dec. 7, 2017, by Summit Hill police for assaulting a borough female in the area of West Walter Street.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.
Corey R. Schlier Jr., 31, of Coaldale, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
He was arrested on May 27 by Lansford police for an incident along East Bertsch Street with his ex-wife the listed victim.
He was placed on probation for two years and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and attend and successfully complete an anger management course.
Michael Maldonardo-Caballero, 24, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
He was arrested on April 27 by Lansford police for an incident along East Kline Avenue. He assaulted the then-boyfriend of his sister, police said.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.
Angelia C. Fatzinger, 28, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of retail theft.
She was arrested on Feb. 2, 2017, by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store.
She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to not go into the store. There was no restitution as the stolen items recovered.
Jennifer Susan Claherty, 40, of Williamsport, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement.
She was arrested on July 19, 2016, at the intersection of routes 903 and 534 by Kidder Township police following a vehicle stop. She was a passenger in the vehicle and gave police a false name.
She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.
Christopher Poplin, 39, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of unsworn falsification.
He was charged for an incident on Dec. 21, 2015, by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. He attempted to purchase a firearm and made a false statement on the application.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
