Carbon County court — guilty pleas
A total of six defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Friday Carbon County court.
Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:
Thefts
Travis Litts, 32, of Lanford, pleaded to one count of retail theft.
He was arrested on March 19, 2017, by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store.
Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, make restitution of $240.59, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the Walmart store.
The term runs concurrent with a sentence Litts is serving in Lehigh County.
Kevin Brown, 20, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of retail theft.
He was arrested by state police at Lehighton at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township for an incident on Nov. 2, 2017.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution of $63.71, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.
Other pleas
Elijah Nathan Dustin Nicholas, 28, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of resisting arrest.
He was charged for an incident on Dec. 28, 2017, following a traffic stop along West Ridge Street by Lansford police.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.
Damian Lee Creighton, 22, of Reading, pleaded to one count each of theft of services and loitering and prowling at night.
He was arrested on June 2, 2016, by Nesquehoning police. Police were called to the 100 block of West Catawissa Street by an employee of the Uptown Limo and Car Service. Creighton rented a vehicle and failed to pay the charge when the transport was completed in Nesquehoning.
He was placed on probation for a year on both counts and ordered to make restitution of $120 and render 50 hours of community service. The terms run concurrent to each other and a probation term in Berks County.
Joshua Kenneth Pennsyl, 31, of Medford, New Jersey, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct.
He was arrested on Sept. 1, 2017, by Summit Hill police for an incident in the 100 block of West Hazard Street.
He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Kyle Allen Hagenbuch, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of furnishing liquor or malt beverages to a minor.
He was charged for an incident on Sept. 2, 2017. Mahoning Township police responded to a vehicle crash along Route 443 and found liquor in the vehicle with all the occupants underage. The occupants told officers Hagenbuch had purchased the liquor for them.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and render 50 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
ARD placement
Ruben Otero Jr., 48, of Lansford, was placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program for first-time offenders for a year on charges of improper display of inspection sticker, improper sunscreening and driving under suspension. Lansford police charged him following a vehicle stop on April 19 along West Ridge Street.
He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
