Carbon County court — guilty pleas
Pleas were entered in Carbon County court on Monday to assault cases. Other defendants also entered guilty pleas.
Judge Joseph J. Matika presided.
Calogero P. Gallina, 41, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
He admitted making threatening remarks during a confrontation with his then neighbor. The incident occurred on May 29.
Gallina was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.
Gallina is currently an inmate in the county prison.
Jacob Bloss, 23, of Cameron, New York, formerly of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
He was arrested on July 8 by Weatherly police for an incident along Carbon Street involving a female victim.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.
Lissett Odalys Guzman, 32, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
She was arrested by Lansford police on Feb. 15, 2016, for assaulting her neighbor with a plastic snow shovel, according to the police report. She was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.
Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to make restitution of $60 and have no contact with the victim.
Joseph T. Igielski, 42, of Philadelphia, pleaded to one count of harassment in exchange for a charge of terroristic threats being dropped by the district attorney’s office in a plea bargain.
He was charged for an incident on Dec. 16, 2017, in the 100 block of East Patterson Street, damaging a woman’s parked vehicle.
He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a mental health evaluation and make restitution of $1,113.93 to the victim.
DUI plea
Kelly J. Eckhart, 45, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 12 by Mahoning Township police along Hemlock Drive. She also pleaded to a count of corruption of a minor, as police found a 16-year-old female in the vehicle.
Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee.
