Carbon County court — Guilty pleas

Eight defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

David C. Parker Jr., 24, of White Haven, pleaded to one count of accidents causing death or bodily injury and driving under suspension — DUI related.

He was arrested on July 11 by Kidder Township police after he struck a pedestrian along Route 940, near the Golden Oak Village. The pedestrian was not seriously injured.

On the accidents count he was sentenced to serve 60 days to one year in jail, supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service, attend and complete an anger management course and have no contact with the victim.

On the driving under suspension count he was sentenced to serve 30 to 60 days in jail, but must serve the full 60 days, and pay a fine of $500. The term is concurrent with the first count.

He was given credit for 55 days already served.

David Aaron Smith, 36, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of resisting arrest.

He was arrested on March 2 by Lansford police who responded to a reported domestic incident. During the investigation, Smith resisted being placed in handcuffs.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Louis Reinhardt, 43, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of statements under penalty.

He was arrested on Jan. 6 by Kidder Township police when he attempted to purchase a rifle at a gun show at the Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony and was prohibited from doing so.

He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Megan Hannah Hill, 28, of Lancaster, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass.

She was arrested on Sept. 12, 2017, by Lansford police for entering Boyer’s Market, West Bertsch Street, after previously being told she was not allowed in the store.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and to stay out of the store.

Deborah Coombs, 28, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass.

She was arrested on June 7 by Lansford police at an apartment along East Snyder Avenue. She was ordered out of the apartment by the renter but returned later and police were called.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a mental health evaluation, render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $234 and have no contact with the victim.

Danielle Neff, 29, of Duncansville, Blair County, pleaded to one count of retail theft.

She was arrested on June 15 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store.

Sentencing was deferred.

Jessica Lynn Valentini, 41, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of theft with a charge of burglary dropped in a plea agreement.

She was arrested on Oct. 12, 2017, for entering a home along Mahoning East Drive and removing clothing.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution to the victim for $515 and render 50 hours of community service.

Brook Heine, 30, of Tamaqua, pleaded to one count of theft.

She admitted taking a purse belonging to a woman who mistakenly left it at a business along Route 443.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $250, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and have no contact with the victim.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
