Carbon County court — guilty pleas

A Lackawanna County man pleaded guilty on Monday in Carbon County court in three pending criminal cases to trespass and burglary charges.

He was one of 14 defendants in pending cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Kidder incidents

Timothy Michael Mead, 25, of Moscow, pleaded to two counts of criminal trespass and one count of burglary, all felonies, for incidents in Kidder Township.

He was charged by township police for entering residences on May 21, 24 and 26 along Crest Drive. In the burglary case he took copper piping from the home.

Mead is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges. He was told by Matika he faces a prison term of between six and 14 months in the standard range of state sentencing guidelines.

Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.

Other pleas

Jarred Ricky Lee West, 28, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was arrested on July 11 by state police at Lehighton, for taking the vehicle of a Lower Towamensing Township resident without permission.

In August, President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced West to serve one to five years in a state correctional institution on seven criminal charges to which he previously pleaded guilty. West has been held in the county prison because of the instant case before being transferred to a state prison.

Matika sentenced him to serve one to 24 months in a state prison and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 50 hours of community service when paroled, make restitution of $575 to the victim of damages to the vehicle and have no contact with the victim.

The term runs concurrent with his prior state sentence.

Clayton Michael Eberly, 22, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was arrested on July 11 by state police at Lehighton for taking the vehicle of a Lower Towamensing Township resident without permission.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Erika Lee Moyer, 51, of Parryville, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass. She was arrested on May 17 by state police at Lehighton in an incident at a residence along Center Street in Parryville.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution for damages to the residence of $200 and have no contact with the victim.

Katrina Lynn Neff, 39, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was charged by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store on Sept. 12, 2015. She was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.

Christopher Stephen Tomsic, 27, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count of operating a vehicle with no valid inspection sticker, a summary offense. He was arrested on Sept. 27, 2018, by Palmerton police in the 900 block of West Edgemont Avenue.

He was fined $25 and costs.

Rolando Martin Horsford, 39, of Lansford, pleaded to a summary offense of disorderly conduct. He was arrested on Sept. 24, 2017, along East Snyder Avenue by Lansford police. A false reports charge was dropped in a plea bargain.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Jessica L. Hartman, 30, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of disorderly conduct, a summary offense. She was arrested on Nov. 30, 2018, by Palmerton police in the 500 block of Delaware Avenue.

Matika imposed a fine of $150.

Eric Levon Smith, 22, of Williamsport, pleaded to the summary charge of disorderly conduct. He was arrested on March 17, 2015, by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. Cocaine was found in the vehicle, according to the police report. The charge was added to the original criminal complaint. A felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance was dropped in a plea bargain.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Chad Anthony Muniz, 43, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. He was arrested on March 27 by Palmerton police following a domestic incident at a residence along Columbia Avenue. A felony count of strangulation and two counts of simple assault were dropped in a plea bargain. It was noted the female victim agreed with the plea bargain.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Dawn Marie Daniels, 45, of Effort, pleaded to one count of possession/sale/use or display of documents, for an incident on Feb. 23 at Beltzville State Park in Towamensing Township filed by park rangers.

She was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with a sentence she is serving in Berks County, and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Joseph J. Stalgaitis, 41, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence. He was arrested on June 3 by Lehighton police along Alum Street. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. Stalgaitis is currently an inmate in the county prison on other charges.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Connor Miller, 22, of Tamaqua, pleaded to one count of DUI of a controlled substance. He was arrested on March 3, 2018, by Summit Hill police along White Bear Drive.

David Argott, 42, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of disorderly conduct, a summary offense. He was arrested on Sept. 30, 2018, by Summit Hill police following a vehicle stop. A charge of false identification to law enforcement was dropped in a plea bargain.

Matika imposed a fine of $150 and costs.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
